Together with Ukrainer in Bern and UA Brokers Without Borders, Frédéric is raising donations for the Help 600+ Ukrainian Children Learn in Safety project, which aims to provide safe learning environments and essential support for children affected by the war.

With everything happening in Ukraine, Frédéric did not want to simply watch the news and feel helpless. He wanted to take meaningful action. This journey is his way of showing solidarity and reminding people that the war in Ukraine remains a daily reality for millions. Through regular visits to his wife’s family and friends in Ukraine, he has seen firsthand how war can affect anyone at any moment.

Combining his passion for biking and travel with a strong desire to support Ukraine, he decided to take on this long journey.

The journey

Starting in Wabern (Bern), Switzerland, Frédéric will cycle around 2000 km to Lviv, Ukraine, passing through Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Czechia, and Poland, with an average of about 100 km per day.

Frédéric is not an experienced long-distance cyclist, and that is part of what makes this project meaningful. It is not about performance, but about perspective. The journey will be challenging at times, but also a once-in-a-lifetime experience: crossing Europe, discovering new places, connecting with people along the way, and raising awareness about the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Frédéric will share updates from his preparation and from the road on Instagram.

Purpose: Help 600+ Ukrainian Children Learn in Safety

Frédéric is raising funds for an initiative that equips bomb shelters in two educational institutions in frontline Mykolaiv. Our partner, UA Brokers Without Borders, is a non-profit organization created in February 2022 in response to the humanitarian disaster caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

This particular project will equip bomb shelters in two educational institutions in frontline Mykolaiv, so 600+ children — including those with special needs and children on waiting lists — can learn in safety.
